Just a "bowl of pasta with some peanut butter" helps the medicine go down...

Okay, so it's been a little long while. To recap what you've missed, we actually missed Barktoberfest this past fall (tragic, but for good reason), the holidays were grand, and now we're in total springtime mode. Springtime, of course, means running around outside and enjoying the weather before its literally 120 degrees. With that being said, we took a little trip to the dog park this past Saturday for the first time this season, which turned out being a little dramatic. The fabulous part is that he hung out with a Boston Terrier buddy and antagonized most of the dogs (which is his favorite thing to do), but things turned a bit sour. He was bullied by an ugly, rat-looking a ferocious chihuahua, his tennis ball was stolen, and he cut one of the cute little pads on one of his paws.  Being the overly protective mother that I am, I took him to the vet.

(Don't let him fool you. As happy as he may appear in this picture, I promise he's incredibly flustered.)

The good news is that he didn't need a bandage (even if he had, I absolutely could not imagine Alfie handling his paw being wrapped), and the even better news is that his anti-inflammatory/pain medication is beef flavored chewable tablets. Why is this so amazing? Getting Alfredo to actually swallow a pill is literally like moving mountains. Canned food, turkey, slices of cheese, and peanut butter don't work. I also happen to think that shoving a pill in a dogs mouth and forcing the mouth to stay shut until its swallowed is simply cruel, so I never go that route either. How do I get Alfredo to swallow a pill?

Simple! A combination of pasta and peanut butter!

It's amazing that I will barely cook for myself, but when it comes to the health and well being of my dog, I'd do just about anything. So for now, until the cute little foot heals, it's beef chewable treats, and...
lots of rest.
